Chrysler is set to redefine the minivan segment by introducing the Pacifica EV, an all-electric version of its renowned Pacifica model. Drawing inspiration from the futuristic Halcyon concept and leveraging Stellantis’ versatile STLA Large platform, this upcoming electric minivan promises to deliver advanced design and innovative functionality.
A Glimpse Into the Pacifica EV
The Pacifica EV has been officially confirmed by Chrysler CEO Christine Feuell, according to Green Car Reports. During the LA Auto Show, Feuell outlined the company’s vision for this electric minivan, which is set to follow the redesigned Pacifica slated for 2026. The redesign will incorporate styling elements from the sleek Halcyon concept sedan, setting the stage for the Pacifica EV, which is expected to debut in 2027.
Addressing the EV Minivan Market
Chrysler has long teased the possibility of an electric Pacifica, dating back to the Chrysler Portal concept in 2017. The Pacifica EV will fill a crucial gap in the market, as few three-row electric vehicles are available. Currently, the Volkswagen ID.Buzz is the only other electric minivan option in the U.S., but it lacks the fully removable second-row seats that many minivan buyers value.
While the traditional Pacifica’s innovative Stow ‘n Go seating won’t be possible in the Pacifica EV due to the battery pack beneath the floor, Chrysler is actively developing alternative solutions to maintain the model’s hallmark flexibility. These changes aim to preserve the practicality that has made the Pacifica a household name.
Expanding Chrysler’s EV Lineup
The Pacifica EV is part of Chrysler’s ambitious plan to electrify its lineup. Earlier this year, CEO Feuell announced the launch of an electric SUV, set to debut in 2024. Both the SUV and the Pacifica EV are expected to utilize Stellantis’ STLA Large platform, a modular architecture capable of supporting electric, hybrid, and traditional internal combustion powertrains. This adaptability ensures Chrysler remains competitive while meeting diverse consumer preferences.
A New Chapter for Pacifica
As Chrysler continues to focus on innovation and sustainability, the Pacifica EV is positioned to play a pivotal role in the brand’s transformation. With a blend of cutting-edge design, practical features, and eco-conscious technology, the Pacifica EV is poised to set a new benchmark for electric minivans.
