Geely is not giving its rivals much room to breathe. The Xingyuan, also known as the EX2, was already China’s best selling car in 2025, but the company has quickly introduced an update to keep it fresh in one of the world’s toughest and fastest moving EV markets.
From the outside, the updated EX2 does not look dramatically different. The familiar shape remains, and Geely has kept the same friendly small car character that helped make it so popular. But beneath that familiar design, the changes are much more meaningful than they first appear.
One of the biggest upgrades is the arrival of Geely’s Afari Smart Driving system, also called G ASD. This driver assistance package adds features such as automated navigation, automated parking, and a sentry mode that allows the car’s cameras to monitor the area around it. For an affordable compact EV, this is a major step forward, especially as rivals like the BYD Seagull continue to raise expectations in the segment.
The EX2 also gains more driving range. Geely still offers the existing 30.12 kWh and 40.16 kWh battery options, but the updated model now adds a larger 47 kWh pack. With this battery, the car can travel up to 298 miles on China’s CLTC test cycle. That figure should be viewed with some caution, since CLTC numbers are usually more optimistic than WLTP or EPA ratings, but it still marks a useful improvement.
Charging has improved as well. The updated EX2 can now charge from 30 to 80 percent in 19 minutes, compared with around 30 minutes before. Inside, Geely has added its Flyme Auto 2.0 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay support, while smaller visual updates include new wheel designs and two fresh exterior colors.
The price makes the package even more impressive. In China, the updated EX2 starts at about $9,133 for a limited time, while a fully loaded version with the largest battery costs roughly $14,000.
This update shows exactly why China’s EV market moves so quickly. The Xingyuan was already a success, but Geely knows that staying on top requires constant improvement.
