The Cheapest Toyota Truck for Racing
Priced at only $13,600, or roughly 51,000 Saudi riyals, the Toyota Hilux Champ pickup truck in Thailand stands out as the Cheapest Toyota Truck designed for performance. In different markets, it’s also known as the Hilux Rangga, Hilux Tamaraw, and Hilux Stout. It debuted as the IMV 0 concept in late 2022 and transitioned to production as an extremely affordable utility vehicle. Remarkably, this truck is versatile enough to be customized for work purposes and can even hit the race track.
Toyota Gazoo Racing Thailand prepared the Cheapest Toyota Truck for the local Super Pickup Series. Adhering to competition standards, the truck features a single-cab, full-size setup with rear-wheel drive, a diesel engine, and a manual gearbox. Under the hood is a 2.4-liter turbocharged diesel engine that delivers more power than the standard model’s 148 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque.
Earlier this year, Top Gear Philippines featured this racing truck. The track-only Hilux Champ stands out with a rugged body kit, fender flares, a rear wing, a lowered ride height, and a large intercooler. While the base model already has a distinctive look, this racing version commands even more attention with its striking race car livery.
Toyota Gazoo Racing Thailand aims to prove that even the Cheapest Toyota Truck can be race-ready with the right modifications. Although aerodynamics aren’t a strong point for the boxy design, the addition of a front splitter and rear wing enhances its track performance. Built on a long-wheelbase chassis, the single-seater, race-tuned Hilux takes on competitors like the Ford Ranger, Mitsubishi L200, and Isuzu D-Max, showcasing its potential in the world of track racing.
