BYD has officially announced the launch of its fully electric updated 2026 Seagull in China, a model known in international markets as the Dolphin Mini or Dolphin Surf.
The car was first revealed during the 2026 Beijing Auto Show.
The fully electric hatchback is available in four trims. Two versions offer a 305 km driving range on a single charge, namely the Vitality Edition and Freedom Edition, while the Zizai Edition and Flying Edition extend the range to 405 km.

The updated 2026 BYD Seagull is priced in China as follows:
- Vitality Edition: 69,900 yuan ($10,300 USD / AED 37,800)
- Freedom Edition: 78,900 yuan ($11,600 USD / AED 42,600)
- Zizai Edition: 78,900 yuan ($11,600 USD / AED 42,600)
- Flying Edition: 85,900 yuan ($12,600 USD / AED 46,300)
Key Features Of The Updated 2026 BYD Seagull
The biggest addition to the new model is the optional DiPilot 300 intelligent driving system.
This package includes a LiDAR sensor and supports urban navigation assisted driving through the CNOA system, along with traffic sign recognition and roundabout navigation.
With this package, prices increase to between 90,900 and 97,900 yuan, roughly equivalent to $13,400 to $14,400 USD depending on the trim.
The 2026 Seagull also introduces two new exterior colors: Mango Orange and Mint Green, alongside existing shades such as Warm Sun White and Peach Powder.
The car features updated 16 inch “Starlight” wheels and redesigned LED taillights with a new illuminated logo signature.
Dimensions measure 3.78 meters in length, 1.715 meters in width, and 1.54 meters in height, with a wheelbase of 2.5 meters.
Inside, the cabin receives a new light beige interior theme called “Oatmeal Rice,” combined with the DiLink 150 system and a 12.8 inch high definition central display supporting 3D vehicle controls and dedicated navigation.
Equipment highlights include a 50 watt wireless charger, heated front seats, and a six way power adjustable driver’s seat. Safety systems include Driver Monitoring System (DMS), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), and a five angle driving recorder.
Mechanically, all trims use a single electric motor producing 55 kW, equivalent to 74 horsepower, and 135 Nm of torque.
Two battery options are available:
- 30.08 kWh battery delivering 305 km range
- 38.88 kWh battery extending range to 405 km
These updates arrive as the Seagull faces growing competition in China, especially from Geely Xingyuan, which became the best selling new energy vehicle in the Chinese market last year.
Other rivals in this segment include Arcfox T1 and Leapmotor A10.
The Seagull reached its sales peak last year in April with 34,005 units sold. It later recorded 30,708 sales in June, but has not returned to the 30,000 monthly sales mark since then.
