All-New 2027 Volkswagen Teramont Breaks Cover

After months of انتظار and speculation, Volkswagen has finally pulled the covers off the all-new 2027 Teramont, known in the US market as the Atlas. With SUVs making up nearly 80% of the brand’s sales, this new generation arrives as a major step forward for one of Volkswagen’s most important family vehicles.

The new Teramont takes clear inspiration from the Chinese-market Teramont Pro, but Volkswagen has made several changes to better suit global buyers. The result is a larger, more premium SUV that feels more modern in every way.

From the outside, the 2027 Teramont looks sharper and more sophisticated than before. The front end features a completely new light signature, with a full-width LED strip connecting the headlights for a more futuristic appearance. Unlike the Chinese version, which uses flush electronic door handles, Volkswagen kept traditional handles on the global model to make everyday use simpler and more practical.

Volkswagen is also offering three fresh exterior colors for the new generation: Sacramento Green, Blackberry, and Sandstone. Underneath, the SUV is built on an updated version of the MQB platform, which should deliver a smoother ride, better stability, and a more refined driving feel overall.

The biggest leap, however, comes inside the cabin.

The old Teramont was always practical, but it never felt truly premium. That changes completely with the 2027 model. Volkswagen has upgraded the cabin with much better materials, more technology, and a noticeably more luxurious atmosphere.

Entry-level versions come with a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, while higher trims get a massive 15-inch display that dominates the dashboard. Volkswagen continues to use haptic touch controls for the climate system, but it has also added a physical rotary controller for volume, drive modes, and ambient lighting, which should make the system easier to use while driving.

Higher trims can be equipped with Nappa leather seats, real wood trim, massaging front seats, and heating and ventilation for both the first and second rows. Volkswagen also paid more attention to ambient lighting, integrating LED elements into the doors and dashboard to create a more premium feel at night.

Under the hood, the 2027 Teramont is powered by an upgraded 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine borrowed from the new Tiguan, but tuned to suit the larger SUV.

It produces 282 horsepower and 343 Nm of torque, with buyers able to choose between front-wheel drive and Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system.

Pricing is expected to start at around $45,000 and rise to roughly $55,000 for higher trims. Volkswagen plans to launch the new Teramont in fall 2026 as a 2027 model.

Overall, the new Teramont feels more mature, more refined, and far more premium than the outgoing version. Volkswagen seems to have listened to previous criticism about cabin quality, and the improvements are easy to notice. The only missing piece is a hybrid option, which could disappoint some buyers, especially as more competitors move toward electrified powertrains.

Still, for families looking for a spacious SUV with a premium cabin, modern technology, and strong German character, the 2027 Volkswagen Teramont looks ready to stay at the top of its segment.
