The upcoming Aito M6 has been spotted undergoing winter testing in northern China, where temperatures can drop to an unforgiving –44°C. The SUV is part of the Aito joint project between Huawei and Seres, and is expected to become the brand’s next addition in the midsize SUV space.
Test vehicles were seen driving on snow and ice near Heihe, close to the Wudalianchi area in Heilongjiang province — a region commonly used by automakers to evaluate vehicles in severe winter conditions. These tests are designed to validate everything from battery performance to traction and software behavior in extreme cold.
Familiar Design, Slightly Smaller Package
From what can be seen, the Aito M6 stays close to the brand’s established design identity. The front end is fully enclosed, flanked by slim, teardrop-shaped LED headlights, while active air vents help manage cooling and efficiency. A roof-mounted LiDAR sensor is also visible, pointing to the continued use of advanced driver-assistance systems developed by Huawei.
Other details include large five-spoke wheels with red brake calipers, a single full-width rear light bar, and semi-flush door handles that comply with China’s latest regulations.
In terms of size, the M6 slots below the Aito M7 and appears more compact overall. It features a smoother hood, a lower window line, and a shorter wheelbase. The model is widely expected to be offered as a five-seater, positioning it neatly between the smaller M5 and the larger M7 in Aito’s lineup.
Electric Focus, With Two Powertrain Options
Like other Aito models, the M6 will rely heavily on Huawei’s software ecosystem for infotainment and driver-assistance features. Buyers are expected to choose between two electrified powertrains:
- A fully electric battery-electric (BEV) version
- A range-extended electric (EREV) variant, combining electric drive with a small combustion engine used to generate power
Detailed technical specifications have not yet been announced, but this dual approach mirrors the strategy used across the rest of the Aito range.
Expected Debut and Market Position
The Aito M6 is expected to make its official debut in April 2026, possibly at the Beijing Auto Show. Initial sales are likely to focus on the Chinese market, where it will strengthen Aito’s SUV lineup.
Pricing is expected to fall between 200,000 and 250,000 yuan (approximately $28,700 to $35,850), placing the M6 in the middle of the brand’s portfolio.
Aito vehicles are sold through Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) retail network. The brand currently offers four SUV models — M5, M7, M8, and M9 — and delivered more than 417,000 vehicles in China last year, an increase of 8.3% compared with the previous year.
With the M6 nearing launch, Aito appears set to build on that momentum as competition in China’s electric SUV market continues to intensify.
