For buyers who prefer complete ownership, including the battery, pricing ranges between approximately $10,700 and $13,900 depending on the trim. Even so, the updated model remains competitively positioned, offering improved specifications without inflating the overall cost compared to its predecessor.
Battery As A Service Model
The standout $7,000 entry price is achieved through Tata’s Battery-as-a-Service program. Under this model, customers purchase the vehicle itself while leasing the battery separately at a rate calculated per kilometer driven.
Driving 12,000 kilometers per year would cost around $348 annually in battery leasing fees, while 15,000 kilometers would raise that to roughly $435 per year. Over five years at the higher mileage rate, total leasing costs would reach approximately $2,175.
Even when adding leasing expenses to the initial purchase price, the total remains lower than buying the vehicle with the battery included. However, the more you drive, the narrower the financial gap becomes between the two options. It’s a flexible solution designed to fit different driving lifestyles.
What About The Petrol Version
For comparison, the petrol-powered Tata Punch continues to be available in India, starting at around $6,200 and reaching approximately $11,700 depending on specification. It remains an important alternative for buyers not yet ready to make the electric shift.
