With the unveiling of the 2027 Mercedes AMG GT Four-Door, Mercedes-Benz has officially turned the page on one of AMG’s most iconic chapters, replacing the traditional combustion engine with a fully electric setup producing up to 1,153 horsepower. The question now is whether raw performance alone can replace the emotional character that made AMG legendary.
2027 Mercedes AMG GT Four-Door Embraces an All-Electric Future
Mercedes-AMG’s decision marks one of the boldest transformations in the brand’s modern history. The new AMG GT Four-Door abandons the thunderous twin-turbo V8 entirely, becoming a pure electric performance sedan designed to push AMG deeper into the high-performance EV era.
Before its global debut, ArabGT’s own Sohaib Shaashaa was granted an exclusive private preview of the car behind closed doors, offering an early look at what Mercedes describes as the future of AMG performance. Futuristic Design Focused on Aerodynamics
The exterior design takes clear inspiration from the aggressive AMG GT XX Concept, combining sharp styling with advanced aerodynamic engineering. Mercedes claims the car achieves an exceptionally low drag coefficient of just 0.22 Cd, helped by several active aerodynamic systems integrated into the body.
Among the standout features are an adaptive rear wing that automatically adjusts depending on speed and driving conditions, along with an intelligent rear diffuser that extends outward to improve airflow and stability at high speeds.
Unlike the original concept, the production model retains a traditional rear window while adopting a darker, more futuristic LED lighting signature across the rear, giving the car a more intimidating road presence.
A High-Tech Cabin with Signature AMG Luxury
Inside, the cabin introduces one of Mercedes’ most advanced digital interiors to date. A wide driver-oriented display flows seamlessly toward the front passenger screen, while hidden air vents are integrated cleanly into the dashboard design.
Despite the heavy reliance on screens and digital interfaces, the interior still carries the unmistakable AMG atmosphere thanks to the extensive use of leather, carbon fiber, and metallic finishes. One of the more distinctive additions is the panoramic Sky Control roof, which can switch between transparent and opaque modes at the touch of a button. Integrated ambient lighting also projects the AMG logo onto the roof at night, adding a dramatic visual touch.
Front Storage with a Personal AMG Touch
With no combustion engine under the hood, Mercedes has used the extra space to create a small front trunk designed for charging cables and lightweight luggage.
In a nod to AMG heritage and its famous “One Man, One Engine” philosophy, the company has added a metal plaque inside the front compartment featuring a QR code. Scanning it gives owners access to exclusive behind-the-scenes content from the engineers and designers responsible for developing the car.
Hypercar-Level Numbers
Mercedes-AMG appears fully aware that many enthusiasts will miss the sound and character of the outgoing V8. Its answer is simple: overwhelming performance.
The new electric AMG GT Four-Door is powered by a 106.0 kWh battery pack supporting ultra-fast 600 kW charging capability. According to Mercedes, the system can add up to 460 kilometers of driving range in just 10 minutes.
Power comes from a three-motor setup consisting of one front motor and two rear motors. Two performance variants will be offered:
- The AMG GT 55 delivers 805 horsepower and 1,800 Nm of torque, sprinting from 0 to 96 km/h in just 2.4 seconds.
- The flagship AMG GT 63 produces an extraordinary 1,153 horsepower and 2,000 Nm of torque, cutting the same sprint down to only 2.0 seconds.
Both versions are electronically limited to a top speed of 300 km/h and are expected to deliver up to 700 kilometers of range under WLTP testing standards.
To soften the absence of the traditional AMG soundtrack, Mercedes has also developed an artificial V8-inspired sound profile for Sport+ mode, played through the car’s speaker system to simulate the familiar AMG engine note.

There is no denying that replacing AMG’s legendary twin-turbo V8 with electric motors will divide opinion among enthusiasts. For decades, the emotional appeal of AMG cars came not only from their speed, but from the brutal soundtrack and mechanical drama that accompanied every acceleration.
Mercedes is now betting that extreme performance figures and cutting-edge technology can create a new kind of excitement. With more than 1,150 horsepower and acceleration figures that rival hypercars, the numbers are certainly difficult to ignore.
Still, the biggest challenge may not be performance at all. It may be convincing loyal AMG fans that silent speed and digitally generated sound can truly deliver the same emotional connection that defined the brand for generations.
