Ford appears to be preparing a major update for the 2027 F-150, and one of the biggest changes could be the end of its current entry-level engine.
A leaked order guide shared on the F150gen14 forum suggests that Ford plans to remove the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 from the lineup and replace it with a larger, more powerful engine as standard. The documents also point to new, more affordable versions of the Tremor and Raptor, designed to preserve their off-road capability while cutting back on some luxury features.
A New Standard Engine for the 2027 Ford F-150
According to the leaked documents, the familiar 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 could be replaced by Ford’s 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6, the same engine currently used in the Ranger Raptor.
The outgoing 2.7-liter engine produces 325 horsepower and 542 Nm of torque. In comparison, the 3.0-liter unit is expected to deliver around 405 horsepower and 583 Nm of torque, giving entry-level F-150 models a noticeable boost in performance.
The new engine is expected to come standard on the XL, STX, XLT, and lower Lariat trims.
Ford is also expected to continue offering the naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8, particularly on higher-end versions such as the King Ranch and Platinum.
More Affordable Tremor and Raptor Trims
Ford also seems to be working on lower-cost versions of the Tremor and Raptor. Rather than reducing their mechanical capability, the company may remove selected comfort and technology features to bring their prices down.
Ford F-150 Tremor 400A
The Tremor 400A package is expected to retain the equipment that matters most off-road, including 33-inch tires, underbody skid plates, a locking rear differential, and Rock Crawl mode.
To lower the price, it could replace leather seats, dual-zone climate control, and the premium B&O audio system with cloth upholstery and a column-mounted shifter.
This approach would give buyers the same rugged hardware without forcing them to pay for features they may not need.
Ford F-150 Raptor 800A
A similar strategy could be applied to the Raptor 800A package.
The truck is expected to keep its 3.5-liter high-output EcoBoost V6 with 450 horsepower, Fox Live Valve suspension, and 35-inch tires. However, it may lose features such as the head-up display, the 14-speaker sound system, and Rigid fog lights.
The result would be a more accessible Raptor that still delivers the performance and off-road ability buyers expect.

The leaked information points to several important updates for the 2027 F-150:
The 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 may be discontinued, while the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 could become the new standard engine with an expected output of 405 horsepower.
The 5.0-liter V8 and the Raptor’s 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine are expected to remain available.
Ford may also introduce factory discounts of up to $3,000, equivalent to around 11,250 Saudi riyals, on selected trims such as the STX.

Ford’s reported decision to replace the 2.7-liter engine with the more powerful 3.0-liter EcoBoost could make the entry-level F-150 significantly more appealing. Buyers would gain stronger performance without immediately needing to move up to a more expensive engine option.
The decision to simplify the Tremor and Raptor also makes sense. Many off-road enthusiasts care more about suspension, tires, locking differentials, and engine performance than premium audio systems or luxury interior trim.
By removing some comfort features while preserving the important mechanical hardware, Ford could make both models more attainable without weakening their core character.
