A Hybrid Hypercar That Took the World by Surprise
When Bugatti, now under the ownership of Croatian company Rimac, introduced the Tourbillon Hybrid last year, it defied expectations. Many anticipated an all-electric successor to the Chiron, but instead, Bugatti unveiled a cutting-edge hybrid gasoline-electric hypercar. The biggest shock, however, came with its all-new V16 internal combustion engine, a departure from the W16 that powered its predecessors.
So far, only a few prototype videos have been released, leaving enthusiasts eager to hear the Tourbillon’s powerplant in action. That curiosity has now been answered, thanks to Bugatti-Rimac Partnership President Mate Rimac, who recently shared a video on social media featuring a prototype of the new hypercar.
In the clip, the Tourbillon prototype is believed to be running solely on its gasoline engine, giving us a raw and unfiltered preview of its brutal exhaust note before the hybrid system comes into play.

This powerhouse is complemented by three electric motors—two at the front axle and one at the rear axle—adding 789 hp (800 PS) to the mix. Together, this advanced system delivers an astonishing 1,775 hp (1,800 PS).
