New information about the first-ever Ferrari SUV has come to light recently, we already know it will be called Ferrari Purosangue as the Italian company had announced earlier.
After the tremendous success achieved by Lamborghini Urus in terms of sales, and the great expectations for Aston Martin DBX announced, today we will talk about the first SUV in the history of the Italian company specialized in the manufacture of super sports cars, which is likely to launch its first SUV in 2021.
According to what was posted on AutoExpress after talking to Ferrari chief technology officer Michael Lieters, it seems that Ferrari SUV will depend on the same chassis used in the 2020 Ferrari Rome, which was officially launched last November during a special event held in the Italian capital, Rome.
Just as a reminder the 2020 Ferrari Roma is powered by a 3.9-liter V8 engine with 612 hp (620 PS) and 760 Nm of torque.
“In general we will have two families of architecture – front- and rear-engine families,” officer Michael Lieters stated. “The modularity is there, and especially on the front-engine architecture we have to foresee many more models. We have a 2+2, we have a 4+, we are thinking about Purosangue, and so on.”
The new chassis which will be used in the 2020 Ferrari Roma and the first Ferrari SUV is designed to be equipped with these options of engines: V6, V8, and V12. But press expectations suggest that the upcoming new 2021 Ferrari Purosangue will rely on a Plug-in Hybrid system that combines a gasoline engine with an electric motor powered by a battery that can be recharged by an electric socket.
It’s worth noting that Ferrari has announced earlier that 60% of its upcoming vehicles in 2022 will be equipped with hybrid systems that derive their energy from electric motors.
