Meet the Counterfeited Mercedes G-Class SUVs Made in China
Today we will introduce a selection of Mercedes G Class cars, made in China
You got that right! These cars are Chinese and they certainly look like Mercedes G-wagons, but they are counterfeited!
The list includes the famous 6X6 with its enormous 6 wheels, as well as some armored cars imitating the famous Mercedes-Benz boxy shaped SUVs.
But before we talk about the Chinese cars, we would like to remind you of another list presented to you by our colleague Suhaib Shashaa in a previous Vlog episode about the most expensive Mercedes G Class cars, the list included the following cars:
Mercedes Maybach G650 Landaulet
Now let’s watch a video about the Chinese G-wagons:
These Mercedes G Class replicas are made in China and they are produced by BAIC with designs derived – or stolen be more exact – from Mercedes G Class! The Chinese cars, which have copied the German Mercedes-Benz SUVs, started production five years ago.
The Chinese Mercedes G-Class cars offered by BAIC are called BJ80. Mechanically, they are offered with two engine options; a turbocharged 2-liter Saab engine, or a turbocharged 2.3-liter Saab engine, which were produced by General Motors in 2009. The chassis is from Saab too.
2018 saw the launch of the BJ80C 6 × 6, which is a Chinese-made 6 wheeler that thinks itself A Mercedes G63 AMG 6X6!
This reminds us of the judicial battle won by the British Land Rover against the Chinese company Landwind, which launched Landwind X7, a Chinese imitation of Range Rover Evoque.
After years of lawsuits, the British company managed to stop the production of Chinese Evoque,
So do you think Mercedes-Benz will sue BAIC in order to ban the production of Chinese Mercedes G-Class cars that have been built 5 years ago! Share your thoughts with us!
