Today, for the first time our dear ArabGT followers, we will be talking about the possibility of offering high-performance AMG variants of the electric cars produced by the German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz, as the whole auto industry is moving towards all-electric cars.
As you know, the 2020 Mercedes EQC, which our colleague Suhaib Shashaa previously test-drove in an episode of Special Coverage program, is considered the first production car of the new EQ series from Mercedes-Benz, which consists of electric cars only
And we also had the chance to meet Mercedes-Benz EQS Concept, when our team was in Germany to cover the activities of Frankfurt Motor Show in the end of 2019. The concept car was created to pave the way for the upcoming production Mercedes EQS that will compete specifically against the upcoming BMW i7 as well as Tesla Model S, Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT
According to what was recently published by Autocar website, electric AMG cars will be produced, and the beginning will be with the Mercedes AMG EQS that will appear in 2022, God willing if this information is correct.
In the report, Autocar added that the high-performance AMG variants of the Mercedes EQS will be equipped with two electric motors generating a power of at least 600 hp and 900 Newton meters of torque,
This means that the upcoming electric AMG will have a power close to the current Mercedes S63 AMG, which is powered by a twin-turbo 4-liter V8 engine that generates 603 hp (612 PS) and 900 Nm of torque. With this powerful engine and the clever 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h In 3.5 seconds.
After the AMG EQS model, the report indicated that there will also be AMG versions of Mercedes EQE, and Mercedes EQG, but they didn’t say if that would be the case too regarding the compact models; Mercedes EQA, EQB, and EQC.
It should be noted that the Mercedes EQS will appear during the year 2021 or at the beginning of 2022
