Volkswagen fans from all over the region made history this weekend, where more than 1,000 VW fans gathered in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi to participate in Dub Drive GCC 2020, which turned out to be the largest VW gathering in Arabian Gulf history, hosted by Volkswagen East Middle.
The huge annual event started with a parade of more than 400 cars on the streets of Abu Dhabi, after contacting local authorities and receiving approval and support from the Abu Dhabi Police Department, the Department of Transport and Emirates Motorsports Organization.
In its fourth edition, Dub Drive Gulf hosted members of Volkswagen Clubs from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the Sultanate of Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Egypt, Lebanon, and Jordan. Some international guests also attended the event such as Jost Capito, CEO of Volkswagen Motorsport, and Tanner Foust, the professional stunt driver.
Dub Drive GCC 2020 , which reflects the essence of the brand, brought family members and friends together on a wonderful festive day. It included many activities that everyone enjoyed, such as SUV test-drives, Teramont Drag challenge, a driving school for kids, drift competition, and racing simulation systems. The event concluded at sunset with a Grand Prize draw, where the winner of a 2020 VW Passat was chosen at random in a live show on the podium.
The event also included the crowning of the winner of the Volkswagen Stars Challenge, the Saudi Muhammad Al-Atiq, who managed to collect most votes among the 13 competitors.
“Dub Drive was introduced to highlight our dedication to our customers and each year a strong sense of unity, commitment and passion radiate from the regional Volkswagen community and clubs who gather together to celebrate the brand. We’re very excited to announce Tanner Foust’s presence this year and are thrilled to see him show off his skills in our vehicles,” commented Victor Dalmau, Managing Director Volkswagen Middle East.
